Where it all started
From Music to a Movement
The Black Village Fund started from a viral interview with the Rap Artist known as K'alley. What started as another rap promo run turned into a lifelong venture when the interview began and K'alley started to discuss themes such as Black ownership, systematic racism, and true change within the community; he proposed a system where 1$ a month from the 58 million blacks in America creates businesses and structures within the community. After the video gained virality on all platforms, K'alley received an email stating "I have my one dollar", The crazy thing is...K'alley never offered his email or payment details; it was just an idea. At that moment he knew he created something special from pure intention alone, so he rushed to create the avenues for people to be able to donate and a team who can support it. It truly does take a village, so K'alley brung along his closest allies who've dreamed and often discussed visions of fostering monumental change for African Americans. The plan is to grow so big that this fund helps the world and builds the next black wall street.
